Healthcare for the Homeless (HCH) is a program of the Yellowstone City-County Health Department. Medical clinics are held daily at different sites that serve homeless individuals and families. Clinics are conducted at the Montana Rescue Mission Men’s Shelter from 7:00-9:00 am on Mondays and Wednesdays and 7:00-8:00 am on Thursdays. Clinics are conducted at the Montana Rescue Mission Women’s & Family Shelter from 1:00-3:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8:00-10:00 am on Fridays.
Medical services offered include: routine preventive health care, immunizations, care for acute/chronic illnesses, wound care, financial assistance with prescribed medications and emergency dental care. For clients who remain in the Billings area, ongoing medical care will be provided by the Deering Clinic.
Additional services include: mental health care and therapy, substance abuse evaluations and referrals to drug/alcohol treatment facilities, as well as other chemical dependency-related counseling.
Further, HCH utilizes outreach workers to inform persons of available assistance, as well as providing case management services to assist persons in obtaining such needs as housing, food, clothing, employment and funding.
Liaison with other local agencies is a significant factor with all components of Healthcare for the Homeless.
